Eco-Products Certifications range from the Biodegradable Products Institute Nationwide, to the Cedar Grove Certification in the Northwest. Learn more about Eco-Products Certifications below.

The Biodegradable Products Institute is the current standard in the United States of America for composting. BPI and the US Composting Council use the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) specifications to certify products as compostable.

How Testing Works

We test all our GreenStripe¬ products and put the BPI logo on them so it is easier for you and your commercial compost facility to identify compostable items Eco-Products items fall into two ASTM Categories: ASTM D6400 and ASTM D6868

ASTM D6400 ASTM D6868

Eco-Products¬ makes sure that our compostable products actually compost like we promise. This all means that if a product claims to be compostable or biodegradable, but does not have a BPI certification, it may not actually be compostable in a commercial facility.

BPI Certified Items

The Biodegradable Products Institute is the current standard in U.S. for composting. BPI and the US Composting Council use the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) specifications to certify products as compostable. It was the Biodegradable Products Institute that created the compostable logo you see on our products. This logo is designed to reduce the confusion that surrounds plastic composting. The compostable logo can only be used on certified products. Because of that, it helps you know which products legitimately meet the ASTM D6400 and/or D6868 standards. It also helps your composter rest easy that the products you send them will biodegrade as expexted.

Cedar Grove Certified Items

Cedar Grove Composting in the Pacific Northwest offers a program of technical review and testing for compostable products to determine if they will compost in a commercial compost facility. Products are tested on site to the ASTM standards and must work in Cedar Grove's composting process. Most Eco-Prodcuts compostable items meet Cedar Grove's composting guidelines.
